Debuting in 2015 and running for almost a decade, Hamilton took Broadway by storm with its innovative approach. From Ron Chernow’s book about Alexander Hamilton, it tells the journey of Alexander Hamilton’s humble beginnings and rise to one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. This is a profound story that is both creative and clever, Hamilton has been hailed as revolutionary in its storytelling that has left its mark on politics, culture, and our youth.
It was created by American composer and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda who is also known for his numerous accomplishments in movies, Broadway and more, also writing the score and lyrics for his former Broadway play called "In the Heights", another Tony award-winning production, and is also responsible for the music and lyrics in many high profile musical movies such as Moana. This hit musical, featuring a ethinically diverse cast, is set to a score that blends new genres like hip-hop, jazz, R&B and more, which has made Hamilton all the more innovative and exciting by bringing these music genres to Broadway. Broadway hits such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have been considered as top-rated memorable songs from the musical since its Broadway debut. Lin-Manuel Miranda has attributed his music inspiration for Hamilton came from top rap and hip-hop rappers of America, finding a way to unite the two different genres together, something that was unheard of. The score of Hamilton is praised hugely by Idaho critics alike, compared to the other Broadway musicals produced today, Hamilton proves to be more fast-paced and lively than others.
