Hamilton honors the life of Alexander Hamilton, conceived and scored by the multi-talented Lin-Manuel Miranda, basing it off the 2004 biography of Ron Chernow. It retells the historical life of Hamilton himself in a ‘hipper’ style, being faithful to the events behind Hamilton's life but with creative direction and musical styles that makes Hamilton largely entertaining. Hamilton really began off Broadway in August of 2015 and was immediately met with amazing reviews for its debut. Along with plenty of critics and audiences, The Washington Post, called it “making ecstatic history”, as the show’s premiere with its amazing cast including the likes of Lin-Manuel Miranda himself in the main role and Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff, wowed audiences in its first performance with a spectacular production. The Musical went on over the next decade to win 11 Tony Awards from 16 nominations, as well as Olivier, Grammy, and Pulitzer Prize Awards.
Ever since its debut, Hamilton has also gone on to perform in dozens of locations across the globe, where it has been getting continuously positive reviews. BroadwayWorld calls The production “the hottest ticket in town”, as it appeals to a bigger range in audience because of being relatable to both the older generations who came for the history behind the show, and the newer audiences that hears about the fresh and artistic approach behind this Musical. Over in London’s West End, TimeOut had concerns over the production being overblown, but that “Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical about Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury, is actually better than the hype suggests”. Additionally, recently with a touring cast in its Manila, Philippines’ performance, PEP PH describes Hamilton as a “visual and sensory feast that adds layers of depth to the narrative”; “This musical is a masterpiece not because it tells a flawless story, but because it brilliantly captures the essence of the imperfect human experience, and in doing so, it achieves perfection on the stage”, they stated.
Magazine critics and viewers alike agree that the Musical is a must-attend this winter as it kicks off its tour all over the world.
